MacBook pro won't turn on!

I am currently traumatised and need some help quickly. I've just got in from work and opened my MacBook Pro as usual, I had just finished typing my password in when the screen went black. No response from clicking/pressing keys so I pressed the power button, it made the startup noise and the login screen came back on. Before I had a chance to do anything else the screen went black again. Pressed power button a couple more times and heard half of the startup noise before it died again. Now if I press the power button I can only hear 2 very quiet click-like noises from inside the left side of the laptop and nothing else. I can't afford to get this repaired or get a new one, does anyone know what this issue is, I feel like crying.

Thanks for reading my rambling and thanks in advance for any advice!

Hold the power button for 5 seconds. Let go, then try turning it on again.
Try the MacBook with a different power adapter.
Nothing? Reset the SMC:

If the battery is nonremovable:

Shut down your Mac.
Unplug the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter from your computer.
Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time. Hold these keys and the power button for 10 seconds.
Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

If the battery is removable:

Shut down your Mac.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from your computer.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on your Mac.
