Codification error

Post by Juan Diego »

Hi everyone,

Recently I´ve downloaded qbittorrent and I have encountered a problem with certain torrents. when I try to open them, my computer pops up an error screen saying that ¨the file could not be openned because it was coded in an non accepted format¨. I would like to know 3 things:

1° Do I have to download another torrent?
2° Is there anything I can do to use the ones I´ve already downloaded?
3° How do I know if my computer won´t play the torrent files before downloading it?

Extra info: I have the qbittorrent version v3.3.6 and my computer has windows 8.

If by "certain torrents" you mean video files then look into installing VLC or a codec pack (K-Lite Codec Pack is a good one)
If your video file still wont open after installing codecs OR with VLC then its a bad torrent.

If you're talking about executeable files (.exe) then its likely 1 of 2 things.
1. virus lol
2. application isnt supported by a 64bit operating system due to age or missing system requirements (C++ Redistributeables etc)

If you're talking about the .torrent file itself try dragging it into qbittorent, if it still doesnt open you need a new torrent file as that one is corrupt.
