Question about categories

Post by Alsakiyo »

Hello,

I want to assign a folder to a category but I don't know how to do it, I've been looking in Options/Downloads without result. Can you help me?

Thanks

it's not possible to do this like other clients do and like you think (assigning a folder to a category)
But you can do this way
Let's say you have disk where you have all your folder "movies" "porn" "music" etc

Set auto as defaul modality for downloads
Map as default download location the hard disk "D:"
Then you create a category with THE SAME NAME of the folders you have on explorer
you can also give subdirectories using "/"

So these could be your categories
-Movies
-Porn
-Music/Pop
-Music/Rock

it's the same thing of giving a folder to a category but the problem is that you can create a category only if the download location has the same root folder/hard disk

you can't save a file in another path (example: extarnal usb disk) in automatic mode. you have to switch to manual and select the path.

Thanks for your help TheInvoker I'll try to do what you say but it's strange this client doesn't have this feature, isn't it?

Yes it's one of the best feature
qbittorrent still has the old feature "append the name of the label...." but this is limited.

Also because if you want to create a subcategory you have to write all the path to the folder, and in the client is not nice to see.
i don't think they will change this feature since there is a (limited) way to do what you ask. Let's hope they add more features that now are missing (like "don not create subfolders")

Let me know if you managed to create categories
