I can't add search engines windows 7
« on: December 01, 2010, 10:42:54 pm »
Hello,
I installed qbittorrent 2.4.10 in my Windows XP machine without a glitch.  Currently there  are 7 search engines enabled in that machine and everything works just fine.

Today I downloaded and installed version 2.4.11 in my Windows 7 machines and can't search for torrents.   There are no plugins installed and when I try to install the .PY files the programs returns an error liek:  (engine name) search engine plugin could not be inastalled.

Is this a bug in the current version?

Downloaded from http://http://qbittorrent.sourceforge.net/download.php
py files from http://http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qbittorrent/index.php?title=List_of_unofficial_search_engine_plugins

Am I the only one facing this problem?

I forgot to mention that "checking for updates" at the Search plugins a popup window displays :  "All your plugins are already up to date".  Even so, there are no plugins displayed and the search doesn't work.
And yes, Python 2 is installed although qBittorrent insists it is not..

Everything fine to me. (Sorry for not English locale in qBittorrent). Try to reinstall or just erase qBittorrent settings.

Thanks Dantix for your response.
Erase settings? Where about?  I deleted qBittorrent.ini and same thing.  I have also reinstalled twice before and same problem.  To delete programs I use Revo Uninstall.
Do you know where could I download previous versions?  I wish to try 2.4.10

Thanks again.

I did something crazy.  I copied the qBittorrent folder from my XP machine into the Windows 7.  Now I run qBittorrent 4.2.10.  Same problem, so back to 4.2.11.
But, I overlooked one detail. The Connection Status icon in W7 never changes to green, so there is something wrong related to the network.
Any idea?  I can't find any installation or how to use documentation, except this one http://http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qbittorrent/index.php?title=QBittorrent_2_English_documentation that is merely descriptive.

If anyone is interested here is the log:

The only detail that can be related to that icon is the NAT status.
Try opening a port on your router and disable upnp in qBittorrent.

Shiki,
I can't do that due to provider limitations.  Besides in my XP machine it works okay using the default settings and ?Torrent works just fine too.

Any other idea?

Did you try any other client? How did you config your firewall in 7?

Well, I have checked everything against my XP machine and found no way to make it work.  It's a pity for I like qBittorrent's search. Other than that I see no advantage against uTorrent which runs circles around qBittorrent.
Last line, since support is so poor I decided to delete it for good.
