FOSS software

Would be cool to have something like this site here:  http://pdfreaders.org/  for other FOSS software as well. Browsers, BitTorrent Clients, etc.

The English Wikipedia already has a couple of pages for this reason, like e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_clients

But certain circles does not want to allow for such pages for FOSS software only. Attempts have been deleted. Now often there is a FOSS-column which allows you to sort for that, but honestly I rather groom articles for FOSS software only. It is my time. Also, wikipedia-idiot often delete articles for new software, simply because it is new. They do not see, that a good project could, in due time, very well gain popularity. For example, about two years before, I created an article for the audioplayer Aqualung, which, of course, was deleted. In the meantime, the player gained popularity and many Linux-Wikis present this program. For the wikipedia it's non-existent.

So, does anybody know about such a project/site/wiki? Wikis of Linux-Distributions are not suited, since they concentrate on packages available for that only, while I am interested in any FOSS software, even if it should be Win/Mac-only. I do not want to waste time with a garbage-collection, I am simply interested in a good overview, like the mentioned pdfreaders.org

Somebody asks me for a pdf-reader, I send them there, and make them decide on their own. Some more info, like First public release date, Latest stable release, some features would be nice to.

I mean, people writing FOSS software deserve better publicity then what the wikipedia-admins are willing to tolerate. And I, as a user, am interested in gaining a quick overview, in times I am looking for new software.

Well, never heard about such a wiki. And yeah, I know about Wikipedia's strange 'behaviour'.
Only thing I can do is help you create such a site. IF you got a php engine or willing to write one.

The only mediawiki engines out there are a bit hard to handle for a newbie, and the ones that come with a WYSIWYG editor are non-free.

Btw. I'm surprised to see Shareaza there. :D

Why? This states, it is GPLv2:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareaza and here http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/ they confirm it.
I never used Shareazea, nor do I plan to do so, since I am happy happy with Transmission on OpenWrt and qBittorrent on Linux and Windows. I shall try rTorrent on OpenWrt soon.

However, google did find something different: http://www.shareaza.com/eula.shtml
There seem to be two versions, version 2.5.5.0 on sf.net is GPLv2 and version7 is commercial How the f*ck can two different programs use the same name AND the same icon?

Ok, found some information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareaza#Domain_takeover

Sigh... I changed the logo.
