Zero seeds and peers once again
« on: September 22, 2018, 05:13:17 PM »
I know at least two trackers from which qBt somehow cannot get an accurate reading of seeds or peers. One tracker shows just zeroes for all torrents, the other one shows zeroes for many torrents and very low values for many others. I'm (again) trying to switch from uTorrent v2.2.1 to qBt but this problem bothers me every time. The thing is that I have lots of torrents waiting for download and I download them when my HD space allows and starting with torrents with the least amount of available seeds. uTorrent v2.2.1 gets the correct value every time and at some point in their v3 branch, it also began to have the issue.

So is it something to report to the libtorrent people or is it a qBt issue?

1. Does these trackers in question happen to be HTTPS, udp, or regular HTTP trackers?

2. Are there multiple trackers for the failing torrents, and the dead trackers are the ones attempted?

At least the two clear cases that I can see from my torrents are regular http. There's only one tracker being contacted in both cases and the status is "Working". I have no problems uploading, I can connect just fine and upload as much as my bandwidth allows.

What I also was wondering is that when are the paused torrents scraped? qBt has been running for over 12 hours but they are still in "Not contacted" state so the amount of seeds shows zero.

Here's a good example:

This is what qBt shows for a common test torrent, a Knoppix image:

This is what the tracker list shows:

And this is what the truth is:

This is what I get for the same torrent with uTorrent v2.2.1, it's spot on:

Possibly a qBT bug with paused torrent scraping there...

On the Knoppix test torrent, qBT is showing a "received" value very close to the tracker's reported seeds value on uTorrent v2.2.1.
So maybe uTorrent is listing old-and-dead seed ips as though they're still "live" while qBT isn't?
...Because also in your screenshots, qBT actually managed to connect to MORE live seeds than uTorrent did! (41 vs 18)
