libtorrent 0.14.x vs 0.15.x
« on: September 06, 2010, 09:44:36 pm »
Hi all
I would like to ask some explaination about this library...which is better??
usually i think if a program is developed into a new version it should introduce something new and something better...is it??
in case...why qbittorrent still using older version??

sorry if this argument has been already discussed...
thanks
bye bye

Well, libtorrent v0.15 brings some new features (better tracker handling, super seeding, seeding without checking and some non-visible improvements).
You say that qBittorrent still uses libtorrent v0.14 but this is untrue. qBittorrent is compatible with both v0.14 and v0.15. You can compile against either one of those.

However, you might be a Windows user. In that case, it is true that we only provide binaries compiled against v0.14 for now. This is due to stability problems with libtorrent v0.15. We did not consider it to be mature enough at that time and we did not want to take any risk. However, v0.15 has improved a lot recently and it seems to become more stable. As a consequence, I guess we should switch to v0.15 soon.
