Windows / Re: qBittorrent keeps crashing

What version of qBittorrent are you using? Perhaps it is v4.0.3, as you mentioned some posts you made ago?

Windows / Re: What means status="Stalled"
« on: October 30, 2018, 07:45:49 PM »
'Stalled' means that there is no traffic coming in when downloading.
If you think the torrent's status should be 'Seeding', consider a re-check of the torrent's files.

Apart from the fact that I cannot find a 'lifetime subscription' for the VPN service you mentioned, this topic is in the wrong section - it's more related to "Off-Topic" than to qBittorrent-Windows.

Try to read this article: https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-services-keep-anonymous-2018/ ... and create an opinion yourself about the various VPN services out there. Keep in mind that you are responsible for your actions when torrenting after all.

MAC / Re: Trackers 'not working' in qbitorrent
« on: October 30, 2018, 07:40:19 PM »
Look up the trackers name on Google to find out if the tracker shut down in recent time.
If so, replace the trackers with this: https://github.com/ngosang/trackerslist/blob/master/trackers_best.txt (try to keep it up-to-date)

If not, look up if your ISP blocks access to the trackers.

I'm running 4.0.4 and having issues with 'run external program'. I've seen some github comments that using 4.0.3 is the workaround for right now.

Updating to the most recent version (v4.1.3) might be a solution...

Windows / Re: What is this pomf.se site that qbitorrent keeps accessing?
« on: October 30, 2018, 07:37:09 PM »
pomf.se used to be a website functioning as a file locker and tracker for BitTorrent. It shut down some time ago, and could be listed as a tracker in qBittorrent.

qBittorrent tries to contact pomf.se as a tracker, because it is listed in some of your torrents. Malwarebytes has the domain of pomf.se listed as a trojan-spreading website, so it blocks the request made by qBittorrent.

To fix this problem, remove the tracker of pomf.se from the affected torrents.

Generic / Re: Random torrents started downloading
« on: October 30, 2018, 07:32:32 PM »
Considering your previous post about setting up an RSS-feed - might the RSS-feed be the cause of the issue?

Other than that, qBittorrent does only what it is told to do - random torrents shouldn't be started/added unless you have a serious problem with your setup (PC/NAS/WebUI). This might be the accessability, the security level (weak password for the WebUI/NAS) ect.

Options > Behaviour > File association
"use qBittorrent for .torrent files" > check
"use qBittorrent for magnet links" > check

If that does not work, check your internet browsers setting for file/link associations.

Generic / Re: Can you get whacked for seeding?
« on: October 30, 2018, 07:26:48 PM »
You can get 'whacked' for seeding, even for downloading (aka leeching), without VPN already, depending on your local laws; the popularity and the copyright situation of the torrent.

Introductions / Re: former utorrent user

I'd take a wild guess and say that qBittorrent is, concerning security flaws, safer than nowadays uTorrent-versions.

Plus it's open-source, so if you find any security flaw and can provide a fix for it, it will be published sooner than for e.g. uTorrent. Remember that they took months to bring out a 'fix' for the most recent security flaw, and had to patch it again [source].

Finally, the safety factor depends much on you - e.g. what you download, what you install ...

Cafe lounge / Re: qBittorrent Discord server (pilot)

Thank you for updating the link!
May I ask of what use the Discord will be? I mean, along the issue page on GitHub and the forum, the Discord-server might be a good place to keep users updated about qBittorrent, but then again we have the forum, the website and GitHub. Just wondering, of course! I like the idea, yet I cannot find any real use for now.

Windows / Re: Problems with the UI after a update
« on: January 23, 2018, 05:33:21 PM »
It's very simple to fix. Right click the bar where your red arrows are pointing. You'll see that everything is ticked, just untick the ones that aren't showing as text.

Sometimes this "fix" doesn't fix the actual problem. Had the same, advise above did not fix the issue - actually it was the first thing that I tried after experiencing the same. Unticked every column, yet there were these ugly empty fields left.

@OP: Close qBittorrent *completely*. Go to %appdata%\qBittorrent and delete the file named "qBittorrent.ini". This is the file that manages all the UI settings. Start qBittorrent - it should create the file again, so no worries.
Pro point: problem fixed. Contra: You'll need to set up qBittorrent again. Things like your ratio won't be lost, but the UI will need to be configured the way you want it.

I experienced the same problem when downgrading from the 3.4.0beta to 3.3.16 again, fiddled around and found the solution above.

Hope this helps.

Cafe lounge / Re: Official Thank You Topic

Just passed by to thank you guys that develop qBittorrent a lot.
Been on the boat since v3.1.10 I think (leave out the registration date of this account - came to the forums way later!), had a lot of torrent clients running in the past... well, over time it turned out that qBittorrent fits all my needs, and I cannot think to switch to an other client anymore.

Since April 2017, I have a way faster internet line (200MBit/s downstream), and of course there are torrents that fill up the speed. For now, I haven't found any other client that handles the speeds so well like qBittorrent. Low CPU-usage, high download speeds, moderate RAM usage, HDD is used just that I can do other things with it too. No other client can do this on my machine, they would lack at least one characteristic that I mentioned before.

I did donate a little amount of money to this project, but it's worth way more, really. Wish I could earn money from trees...

Thanks a lot again for your work. Can't wait for the next release to come!  ;D
