Windows / Re: No upload speed when seeding
« Last post by Switeck on September 17, 2019, 09:38:51 pm »
A few ISPs used to use Sandvine equipment to selectively disconnect seeding torrents to almost completely prevent them from uploading.

You need to watch when a torrent finishes downloading to see if all the peers on the torrent disconnect, because that will at least explain the no uploading bit while a seed. (but not why that happens)

1.Is peers disconnecting happening on private tracker/s?

2.Or does it also happen on poorly-seeded public torrents?

MAC / Re: How many seeding torrents can qBittorrent handle?

Wow, that seems like an incredibly small number! Could it be issues with your particular computer? Surely iy must be possible to seed more than 200 torrents successfully with qBittorent, as uTorrent can handle thousands?

MAC / Categories and Tags
« Last post by Bobupndown on September 17, 2019, 07:30:35 pm »
Hi all,
Is it possible to create the categories using a text file?

I have a particular structure of folders and sub-folders and I wondered if there was a way to create these categories en masse

Same with tags, a list of tags say in a text file or formatted in a suitable file type that can be imported or placed somewhere that the app reads and creates the categories and tags.

If this is not possible, could it be considered as a possible feature for a future release.

Windows / Any changes in settings after moving to SSD?
« Last post by qdin on September 17, 2019, 04:26:39 pm »
Hey! For the last ~2 years I had a single 6 Tb HD split into 3 partitions - OS, Video, Music. The new setup will be Samsung EVO 970 for OS, 4 Tb for video and the old 6 Tb for music. I'll be moving 300-400 torrents and was just wondering are there any changes I should make to prevent excessive damage to SSD.

Just to clarify -  I won't be downloading to it, just running QB.

Thanks!

Windows / Re: 1 seed, many peers, no traffic

qBitTorrent counts as peers ANY ip address ever seen, reported, or "rumored" to be on that torrent -- this can include peers that are now seeds and even get counted as both.
Trackers tend to only count as peers the peers that have announced to them in the last hour or 2.

Fake peers may be the cause...or peers that quickly change their ip address and get reported many times.

Also, you're not connecting to the peers because your qBitTorrent is probably blocked/firewalled -- possibly in multiple ways!
Software firewall, router+LAN ip address use, ISP that blocks incoming connections and/or tries to cripple/block BitTorrent traffic in general, proxy/VPN that prevents incoming connections...may all be to blame.
So allot of peers could be explained. But how about the zero seeds?

Also, my qBittorrent is definitely not blocked/firewalled. I seed lots of torrents and my NAT port works like a charm. The connection is not the problem for not seeding these specific torrents.

Windows / Is the PS/2 keyboard/mouse different from USB?
« Last post by JonnyJobin on September 17, 2019, 03:03:23 pm »
I've had a hackintosh for about 10 years now and for some reason the USB keyboard has been giving me trouble. I thought it was the MB, so I installed Windows 7 for the same MB that was running macOS. The USB mouse is giving me trouble (cutting in and out).

Someone suggested to use the other USB set (the board has 2 USB banks), and also suggested that I try the PS/2 ports for the mouse/keyboard.

Q. Does the PS/2 ports work on a different channel than the USB does so that if my USB doesn't work under macOS, then maybe the PS/2 will?

Is there any USB 3/3.1 PCIe cards that work with macOS?

Windows / QBT not showing any Nodes or Connections with PureVPN...
« Last post by latheofheaven on September 17, 2019, 08:22:43 am »
Basically, that's it.  The reason I started running QBT again is that strangely running UT once I get it up and running with torrents already DLing, it's fine, but if I try to add torrents / magnets after PureVPN is running none of them show any peers, when I KNOW there should be peers.

So, I install the latest QBT, and now it shows no nodes or connections.  Under 'Advanced' I have it set to connect only to PureVPN and 'any address'

When I first start QBT oddly it shows about 30 nodes then gradually they decrease to '0' with no connections.  QBT is definitely allowed through the Windows Firewall (8.1)  So, how do I get it to connect?

Thanks!

Windows / No upload speed when seeding
« Last post by Sylvers on September 17, 2019, 03:50:22 am »
I've been having this problem for some months now, but have only noticed it recently. I'd been using Bigly for a while, but I decided to switch to qBitTorrent, hoping that would fix my problem, but it persisted. Anyway, my issue, is that as soon as a torrent finishes downloading and switches over to a seeding state, the upload speed vanishes entirely, and sits permanently on a 0 B/s. Even though, while the torrent is still downloading, the upload/download speeds seem to function properly (as fine as my internet speed will allow).

I am not very savvy as far as torrent clients, and networking configuration is concerned, so I really don't have any inkling on what might be causing this very specific problem. I would be grateful if I could get any input on the matter.

P.S. I tried the basic solutions I can think of, that is, I checked the firewall settings, made sure UPnP was enabled in my router, and tested this on both Bigly and qBitTorrent.

For me on Windows 10, v4.1.7, the most it can safely handle is about 200. Once you go into thousands, problems start occurring such as: not being able to exit qBittorrent (https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/9190), need to re-check torrents on startup occasionally.
