Re: qB 4.3.8 Memory Usage

Getting to the bottom of the problem... There may be more than a memory "leak" here. Use Windows Task Manager to check GDI Objects, User Objects, Handles (tend to be on a per open file basis), and lastly Threads that qBitTorrent is using. qBitTorrent may be going bonkers after a few hours ...

You can keep all the resume files and you don't have to reinstall qBitTorrent. Only qBT's settings files need to be replaced and those are found in... https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/wiki/Frequently-Asked-Questions#Where_does_qBittorrent_save_its_settings Something like this: C:\Documents...

Re: qB 4.3.8 Memory Usage

I still have uTorrent crash my computer due to out-of-memory conditions. But I only have 12 GB ram...and Firefox is typically more to blame than uTorrent at those times. :P "I do not see a setting for MEMORY/PAGING priority, I meant BASE Priority (in Task Manager). I do not see anything regardi...

Re: Please just make paused Completed Torrents Inert already

A partial workaround is back up qBitTorrent's settings and resume files.

Re: I want lock button on sequential order

qBitTorrent automatically downloads in sequential order now if there's lots of connected seeds, even without using those settings.

Re: Slow upload speed, can't figure why

If you want to look deeper inside qBitTorrent, you'd have to try with a fresh set of settings for it and/or different torrents. But upload speed is always a tricky one, because you can't count on other peers being where you want them when you want them. In a private tracker, they can be overloaded b...

Re: New Modem Kills Internet Connection When Torrenting

To jamiesizzle... You're more likely to get a cliche "set the speeds" response if you're not giving any info. The original poster gave rather detailed information about the setup they have, including ISP, VPN type, computer, router, and more. But still all I could give is a general hint, b...

Re: qB 4.3.8 Memory Usage

360s = 6 minutes. I suggested setting it to 3600 seconds (1 hour). I also suggested LOWERING qBitTorrent's memory/paging priority to below average, so windows would not try to cache every file briefly touched by qBitTorrent. qBitTorrent's Disk Cache is stored directly in main system ram -- and uses ...

Re: Slow upload speed, can't figure why

"torrents I seed are not that popular and have at most 5 peers connected, very rarely more than 10." So that means more-or-less every peer that joins one of your torrents should be getting uploaded to by your qBitTorrent client. Try checking on one of the busy torrents that most peers are ...

Re: qb transfers 5GB of empty data to the NAS

That has to be even more brutal if starting a giant 50+ GB torrent...and I'm not sure qBitTorrent is "smart" enough to only try to zero-fill 1 file at a time in a multi-file torrent.

Re: Slow upload speed, can't figure why

On the 1st picture, you told qBitTorrent to connect to as many as 50 peers per torrent...then only upload to 5 of those at once. The other 45 connected peers will get nothing most of the time. With the speed of your upload, you could probably set upload slots per torrent higher and reduce max connec...

Re: Qbittorrent makes router crash

Many routers handle large numbers of UDP packets exceptionally badly. ...And BitTorrent clients use lots of UDP packets for DHT and uTP connections. So if you only use private trackers and/or don't really need extra peers+seeds on the busy torrents you get, you can disable DHT. Don't disable uTP unl...

Re: qB 4.3.8 Memory Usage

Raise the cache duration to something more reasonable like 3600 seconds (1 hour). It won't directly help on memory usage though... For that, you need to set qBitTorrent's memory/paging priority to below average or lower in Windows. (may need a reg edit to do that...or use Process Explorer.) Keeping ...

Re: Real IP exposed. What went wrong?

Have you disabled UPnP/NAT-PMP in qBitTorrent?

It won't work with a VPN or proxy and may leave your real IP even more exposed...

ALSO disable DHT and LSD/LPD (Local seed/peer discovery), since these too can advertise on your real IP.
