Re: value deviation between columns "Done" and "Progress"

I don't see a column called "done" in the torrent list. They are both called "progress" in my qbittorent. I'm not seeing any difference in the percentage for single file torrents, although all my single file torrents are currently long-term stalled, and it may be something that d...

Re: Stalled torrents using up queue slots

I just set it large - about 50. IIRC years ago slow torrents didn't count towards the maximum (although I might possibly be remembering a different client). I'm guessing it changed to avoid the case where all torrents are active and resources are spread too thinly for anything to be above threshold....

Re: Unchecked files not deleted, not moved to .unwanted

And it looks like removing the need for sparse files to handle the end parts is part of the change. It would wise to avoid deleting anything until this is all working properly. It's clearly broken at the moment. It's also not clear whether at any stage old torrents will get converted.

I didn't follow those github links before replying. I see that removing the .unwanted folder was deliberate.

Re: Unchecked files not deleted, not moved to .unwanted

I'm aware that qB may need to store partial files because of how chunks work, but that's not what I'm seeing here; I'm seeing complete, full-size files that are still kept even after I uncheck them. My understanding is that those end chunks are stored in the unwanted file. At least by default these...

Re: Using cache actually increases disk wear/reads?

I have been having OS cache off in all tests, still a lot more disk reads Right, but that probably reduces the amount of memory available for caching compared with an OS cache. The OS cache can use almost all the memory this isn't doing something more important. If you give a similar amount to an a...

Re: Using cache actually increases disk wear/reads?

I don't know how much difference there is between the Windows and the Unix versions, but I have options for cache (off by default) and OS caching (on by default). I presume it's not a good idea to have both because it could result in files being cached twice, leading to less effective caching and mo...

Re: Deep Packet Inspection(DPI)

There is very little incentive to change anything since practically everyone should be using a VPN or equivalent.

Re: How can I reduce the amount of temporary space qBittorrent uses?

I don't think it keeps any large temporary files, what it does have are the unwanted files which have to be kept because generally files don't meet on part boundaries. This may vary slightly between platforms, but in unix they are stored in hidden directories. As sparse files they don't take up much...

Re: prioritize download speed?

AFAIK the priorities for files just affect the order in which pieces are fetched within a torrent. They have no effect in prioritizing one torrent over another.

Previews becoming unreliable

I'm seeing that video previews are becoming increasingly unreliable. It works on some files, but not others. It seems to be due to "Download first and last pieces first" not fetching enough at the end. When it happens, the file becomes playable at some random point in the torrent download....

Re: RSS Downloader tips requested. Suspect I'll need to use regex.

regular expresions aren't anchored by default so you would need:

"^evil.*720p" if you want it to start at the beginning

"\bevil.*720p" if you simply don't want it to start in the middle of a word

Re: Why peers won't connect to finish download.

A lot of VPNs don't support incoming connection. Those that do are usually more expensive.
