Re: forum software

Phew. It's a complicated topic, but you can always just research this by yourself. Like just install your own forums and test. Barely costs a dime to be fair. Back like 5-10 years ago, everyone hosted their own forums. It was cool, I miss those times tbh. So. Cloudflare : Basically you can only enab...

Re: PSA: Maintenance notices / website updates

Had a wave of spam in queue, cleared that. Luckily they didn't mass PM everyone. If they do, I'll wipe that out as well. - Each spammer used proper gmail addresses. - Each had a valid IP. - Each passed every check. Ie.: Almost 100% human actions were taken to spam a forum that's 100% not interested ...

Re: forum software

- I saw the name on a restaurant where I lived and I needed a domain name. So I registered it. The forum started as a hobby project and became full time official later on and the name stuck. We could just move it to qBittorrent's domain anytime. This way however we get Cloudflare protection which ai...

Re: Qbittorrent perdiodically stops working

maybe your router? or some software? to be fair, PIA has been bought out, so I guess it's time to look for a new provider anyway. I went with Mullvad, but no idea if it's any good yet. it just had the same 5 concurrent users + SOCKS5 + port forward + anonymity, and I was like, why not. Point is, you...

Re: Huge speed drop using VPN proxy

That is due to.. 1) Mullvad servers may be overloaded / they might be not as fast as PIA. 2) I don't exactly understand why you'd need to use a proxy, when you are on VPN. 3) Same with the DHT/PeX/anonymous stuff, if you are on VPN this makes absolutely no sense. Disabling UTP makes no sense either....

Re: How to downgrade?

Downgrading on Linux (like not all, but Linux Mint / .deb based distros) is not exactly straightforward. I mean, if you just remove qBittorrent via Synaptic, or via "apt remove", you won't lose configuration files. So it's perfectly safe to just remove it like that and then re-install whatever versi...

Re: Suggestion Required

I use Private Internet Access - it's the most affordable (without commitment). Has SOCKS5 proxy too. Worked like a charm for years.. can't complain. People who are very much into privacy and such, they recommend "Mullvad". I think "ProtonVPN" was another endorsed service by privacy advocates. For me...

I mean unless you are writing an app, can't you just write a script that kills process, does a replace for port in config file and start the daemon again?

Re: Files keep increasing in size.

Well, on Windows, anti-virus clients remove certain files and can cause a 99... % whatever torrent size.
But on Mac I am not aware of any anti-virus clients... you sure there is no anti-virus foul play involved?

Re: Newbie qBittorrent User Question

When you click add magnet link in qBittorrent, you simply have to wait where you just see that empty window... There is even a progress bar at the bottom I think. It has to download the .torrent file first from the other peers (that's how magnet link works) and THEN it can show you what the torrent ...

Re: Continuous I/O Errors For The Downloads I Deleted From The Download List

Are you sure you have correct permissions on the download folder?*
Are you sure your anti-virus does not mess with the client/downloads?

* like you could have changed the default folder but only started downloading new stuff now. and turns out the new folder has incorrect permissions... maybe.

Re: qBittorrent on MSStore.

MS Store programs need to be packaged specifically for MS Store. Meaning it would result in a dozen of permission and other issues. The idea is neat, but implementing it is very hard usually. Most apps who do it even ask for donations and such because it's that non-trivial (see paint.net for example...

haha, yea that's why you should test on "regexr" on some other online regex site with good, near good, and bad samples.
regex supports "starts with" too.

see: https://javascript.info/regexp-anchors

good luck!

Forum/website/server updates | PSA

[FORUM - PSA] 07/11/2019 There was 1 manual spammer who registered and sent out like ~10 messages. The spammer and messages have been eliminated. It was a 100% manual registration with 100% manual spam. Sadly, we cannot prevent that. Nothing can. I'd rather not disable the PM system altogether, but ...
