Re: Frustrated - slow download

In terms of pure upload/download speed, I think we have a good solution now. But your observations regarding hard disk activity and data transfer "drop outs" is the same as mine. I also agree that this issue has become worse during the latest libtorrent release(s). I don't see anything in ...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

I know why µTP is theoretically a better/more efficient way of transporting data, I am only saying that in real life, there are a lot of other things to consider. I find µTP to be much more sensitive to semi-bad connections. And as I say again and again "give us a basic µTP protocol" and I...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

Sorry, I haven't been active the last couple of days, I went down with the flu. I was actually about to drop my use of µTP all together, because I found it has too mane draw backs. But the "qbittorrent_3.2.0alpha_161113 patch_setup.exe" actually works quite nice with µTP enabled. I think t...

Re: Multiple Issues, Buggy in General

I have actually experienced something like the above. When I wanted to change to another qTorrent version (slow download issue thread) I did it by closing the running qTorrent process. Or so I thought. I then installed the new version and launched it (without realizing that the old qTorrent process ...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

Well, bottom line is actually the quote I made, I personally don't care if it is TCP or µTP. µTP has some theoretical advantages but I think when it comes down to practical/daily use, it has (apparently) some disadvantages too. The main reason for implementing µTP, I assume, is the fact that µTorren...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

"I don't care about total utp bandwidth vs total tcp bandwidth. Let them have as much bandwidth as each peer gives them BUT total utp + total tcp <= global rate limit"  :)

That's it!

Re: Frustrated - slow download

This threads main issue was actually that µTP bandwidth management also managed the TCP bandwidth (in my opinion). Your proposal is actually what I proposed early in this thread, let's get a "basic µTP" solution without all the bells and whistles. And then let "Hole punching" and...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

I can 100% confirm your observations. µTP seems a bit more unstable than regular TCP. µTP should actually have (the potential for) more seeders/leechers since all new µTorrent versions prefer µTP and since µTP is harder to throttle for ISP's. But in real life I get better speed (both up and down) an...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

But... The functionality is (mybe) flawless, but I still get much higher downloads by disabling µTP. My guess would be, that the µTP protocol code (in the present version) is using too much CPU/router power. My qTorrent is running on a dedicated Windows 2008 R2 server 6 x 3.8 GHz with 16 GB RAM, so ...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

Hi all.

The Alpha seems to work as expected.
I haven't seen any strange bandwidth limiting.
I have downloaded a couple of torrents from private trackers and it have used all my allocated Bandwidth.

It looks like the problem has been solved!

Re: Frustrated - slow download

Thanks for your effort, will try it when I get it downloaded (40minutes+). The reason for me accusing µTP for the error is several descriptions of the bandwidth management behaviour of the protocol. Wikipedia writes: "µTP congestion control The congestion control algorithm used by µTP, known as...

Re: Frustrated - slow download
Did you try v3.1.2 jeps? With me the problems seems gone after upgrading, for now atleast. I hope it stays this way :).
It is my theory that the µTP bandwidth management during the download (erroneously) decides that my download bandwidth is saturated and begins to ...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

As an experiment I tried to disable µTP protocol and I haven't seen the problem since then. So it would seem (I think  :)  ) that the "µTP bandwidth management" makes some bad decisions. As mentioned earlier, I would really like to have µTP enabled, just not the "bandwidth management&...

Re: Frustrated - slow download

I have done some testing of this build now. Until a few minutes ago, I actually thought the problems wasn't there, but... I started a few downloads and all of a sudden I saw this problem with bandwidth limitations on TCP connections across torrents. It more or less looks like a deliberate attempt to...
