Re: HD goes to 100% usage when downloads start

If the space were allocated at the point of queuing it would cause some people to run out of space unnecessarily. It could also cause files to be pre-allocated before being set as "do not download". Doing the pre-allocation as late as possible seems like a good idea to me. Is it really suc...

So what's the problem?

Re: No direct connection

I've not seen "no direct connection" so I had to look it up and I'm still unclear exactly what it's testing- if it's to do with incoming connections it's poorly named. I vaguely remember another client where an an icon would go green on the first successful incoming connection, which seems...

I don't know if this is the same thing, or even if it is true, but I have heard it said that some online streaming sites are proxying torrents rather that storing the files locally.

Have you tried renaming the existing entry?

I'm saying that IMO it doesn't work - there's no technical reason why it should.

Re: Question: adding and managing trackers help.

You tried it and it didn't work, so you assume that you did something wrong. If the speed had gone up randomly, you would probably have already drunk the kool-aid. Once you start to believe in it, that belief gets reinforced by confirmation bias. This is how many old wives' tales got started.

Re: its on strike

DHT and PEX is hit and miss. For me, the trackerlist saved my behind so many times I lost count. Seriously, it "revived" hundreds of torrents for me. However, if you rely on DHT a lot, you might want to give BiglyBT a try which has two DHT in-built. When you say that it has revived hundre...

Re: seeding a file while metadata are missing?

Have you tried searching by the name of the file as it shows in qBittorrent? If you get lucky you will get one or more websites that you can go to and hopefully, the hash file will match on one of them, and you can download the torrent file. If you get a torrent file, start the torrent and then sto...

Re: its on strike

te] You can always add new trackers to them, if they are public torrents. There's a lot of advocacy for this, but I've yet to hear a good argument for why it's useful. Modern clients don't need trackers at all for public torrents. In any case the great majority of public torrents die before their l...

Re: Not downloading

Most likely an IPVanish or firewall problem. Unless you have disabled DHT, "DHT: 0 nodes" is strong indicator of a connection problem.

Re: its on strike

Old torrents are often slow and intermittently seeded - think yourself lucky that 1 or 2 a day are completing. Don't pause them, enable queueing, setup the section "do not count slow torrents in these limits", set "max active downloads" to 2 and "max active torrents" to...

Re: seeding a file while metadata are missing?

With a torrent file the metadata is in the file, with a magnet link you have to get it from a peer that already has it. Without a torrent file all you can do is wait.

Re: How to upload only to several peers with 'highest progress'

I would like to upload only to few of those on those 30% to pull them faster to 100% and then they can join me in seeding much faster. FWIW creating seeds is counterproductive compared with creating distributed full copies. There's no reason to think a seed is going to upload any faster than an inc...

Re: Stalled torrents using up queue slots

i also hit this same issue i think the first problem is that it is not intuitive ... secondly, the defaults are bad. I don't think anyone designed the UI badly, almost certainly the behaviour changed in libtorrent and qBittorrent hasn't been updated to reflect that. perhaps there's no need to have ...
