Re: qbittorrent crashes after about 30 seconds
Why there is an auto-restart feature? Because the average Joe have no idea how computers work. Imagine if they would never, ever use patches. And the whole world would just become a huge botnet. The situation is bad even like this, but I can't imagine the damage that would cause. Sure it's annoying ...

Re: qbittorrent crashes after about 30 seconds
Lemme join to the discussion.
What's wrong with updates exactly?
I always used fully updated systems since XP. Had no problems, and they made no difference.
Except the system wasn't vulnerable to those given attacks.
But why would you wilfully keep your system at danger?

Re: qBittorrent featured on Ninite
I always hated the one-peer-TO-one-peer system. Like every single person had different files. And only normal guys with slow DSL/cable had interesting stuff. (Bots only got uninteresting, boring shares.) So every download had a speed of 10kbps or a bit more. And guess what, if I tried to be a nice g...

Re: RAM consumption when ip filter is loaded
Indeed it's strange, and maybe it's a bug (rather, some wrong implementation somewhere).... But. Why people use it? Because someone implemented this at first. Some people actually spend time to refresh these lists, so they kill p2p even more. And at the end of the day, they think "oh wow I help...

Re: Set Location preview
So let me get this straight.
- If you move your files with set location, the progress bar does not behave like it should?
The color part is OK, you could make a wishlist bugreport about that. But word it a bit better. (It's understandable even now, though.)

Re: RAM consumption when ip filter is loaded
Not an answer (sorry we don't have spoiler tag, yet): Just don't use them. They harm the swarm, and it will harm you the most. What does it protect people from? From some random IP ranges that are known for everyone? If it's a public software, who would even try to log peers from there? I know what ...
Nice shiki. I wanted to register my name (same as forum, Nemo) but isn't possible. It says that it is already being used by someone somehow :P. I will go in there now and then and see how it goes.
Just register some different "qbNemo" for example or smth. ...

Re: Online all the time!?
I just edited the wiki, but it's easy to make such scripts. It's called "init script". There are many great tutorials around.
How to stop it from running? Bottom of the page.
sudo update-rc.d -f qbittorrent-nox-daemon remove

Re: Online all the time!?
Hmm. I'll have to edit the wiki, because it does not even mention the need to edit. So. Open that file with a text editor. Like so: sudo nano -w /etc/init.d/qbittorrent-nox-daemon And go to the USERNAME=[USERNAME] part. Replace your [USERNAME] with your username. So the line will look like this (for...

Re: Online all the time!?
So you did all the steps on the bottom, and it does not auto-start... right?
Try opening a terminal, and issuing: /etc/init.d/qbittorrent-nox-daemon start
See what happens. If it's some error, tell me.
(Now I'll go to sleep, but will check your reply once I wake up.) Good luck!

Re: upload setting problem
There is no "golden rule" here.
Just set it to 5kbps if you don't want to upload. (That much, you will still upload some data of course.)
If you pick a torrent where you do need have to upload, then upload.
Simple as that. (But it's not a qBT issue as far as I experienced.)

Re: upload setting problem
Ooooh I understand! Well, first of all if you want to leech only, use at least 5-10kbps. Or at least 3-5kbps. If you want to be a scumbag and upload zero, use BitThief. (just kidding) Back to the topic: This happened to me many times as well, but it only happens with specific torrents. Sometimes I d...
