Re: qbittorrent v3.1.12 Windows 8.1 on QNAP NAS Slow [UPDATED]

Look, OP there is nothing wrong with qBittorrent, or your NAS, or whatever. Only solution is to install the client ON your NAS directly! http://techtipsnreview.com/qnap-turbonas-ts-469l-review/ Even this review mentions the in-built torrent client. And even if the default client sucks, you can insta...

Re: qbittorrent v3.1.12 Windows 8.1 on QNAP NAS Slow [UPDATED]

Bottleneck? Usually I would say the CPU of the target device, or the raid controller. But here, my guess is: The network. Give it a try. Pick out two disks from your NAS, plug it into your PC, and set up RAID0 with Windows. You will experience some great speeds, even with Windows's own software raid...

Re: Just a bit of stress relief, ....

Can't you protect your service with 'fail2ban' or 'denyhosts'? If bandwidth is a problem, you should consider switching to some DDOS hosting. (If it's only a mail server, VPS hosting is fine.) If it's an on-site server, you could use enterprise-grade anti-spam appliances. Like the Barracuda Spam Fir...

Re: No Direct Connection

My trusty 1043NDs are years old, battle-worn, and they still work like a charm. :P

@Sledgehammer: It's UPnP, not libtorrent. Skype, uTorrent, games... every now and then my forwards got messed up when I used UPnP.

Re: Block peers by country

In my opinion, the anti-piracy companies just rent servers from whatever providers (DigitalOcean, RamNode, Amazon, etc). It's easy and cheap to automate. 1) Launch new server from whatever provider, download custom logger client. 2) Wait for command (download torrent x, y, z), download torrent (x,y,...

Re: News Search engines

@SDIK: There are Python contributors on our Github, just check the issues/commits. You can also make a new issue and tag it as "Wishlist", and see if someone implements your new engine. I am also open to fix engines if they ever break down. Example #1: https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBitto...

Re: Block peers by country

Peerblock software and ip block lists offers you NO protection! You should rent a seed server and transfer from there via SCP or SFTP. Or use a VPN, and skip the seed server part. (you can make a qB format list by simply using a bit of replace and regex (sed on linux?). but again, it's only a place...

Re: Can't upload, only download

tl;dr: You are most likely passive, and you can do nothing to change this. Your best choice is to rent a cheap seed server, and download/upload there. And the stuff you need can be downloaded via SCP / SFTP protocol. Anyway... - If you have issues in the first place, just disable firewalls. All of t...

Re: Different peer count in tracker vs transfer window?

Trackers show X peers, all the peers they have. But: - qBittorrent honors your connection limits. - You cannot connect to each of one of these peers. (they have no upload slot, they have no direct connection, etc.) - They cannot connect to you. (you have no slots left, etc.) Personal experience is, ...

Re: qBittorrent and RAM

You can set qBittorrent's cache size in settings. This is what happens: - HDDs are bad at random writes. - qBittorrent downloading, non-sequential, writing data with - let's say 4-6M/s. - You work on your project, start exporting, as fast as possible. - Export starts eating up HDD I/O as much as pos...

Re: qbittorrent kills internet connection

It also depends on where you download from. An example. If you have DD-WRT installed on your router, you can view open-connections. If I used a standard torrent from a closed tracker: I had around ~100 connections, according to my settings. If I used a really popular torrent from a closed tracker: I...
