loading a list og banned ip in the filter

Post by krys » Sun Jan 12, 2020 2:58 pm

Hello there,

I use a list of banned ip in the filter.

how can i be sure that QB use and apply it?

I m wondering this because, in transmission, the list is loaded in about 3 minutes and it show: 409925 blocked ip adresses.
In QB the list seem's to be loaded in 0 second with the following message : ip filter correctly loaded, 0 rules applyed.

any idea?

Thanx

Well, the list has to be in a good format.
Keep in mind using these lists offer 0 protection. They are absolutely useless and will just harm your download/upload speeds.

Well, IP addresses are tricky. Like okay, let's say a known DMCA organisation uses an IP block. Alright.
So what prevents them from going on like DigitalOcean.com and renting a VPS and start tracking? Exactly. Nothing.
And what if someone is reported under the DMCA org, gets blocked, but in fact that person is just a regular household user who has nothing to do with DMCA? You just blocked a good peer.

It does nothing but hurt the swarm/downloads/uploads. Seriously. Get a VPN (Windscribe, Mullvad), use a seedbox. Just not the list, lol.
