Hello,
It would be nice to have when installing qbittorent a way to ADD the exception to the firewall. I did it manually, but for noobs, it would be nice.
Thanx. regards.

Re: Lack of firewall exception when installing
Which firewall? Windows' firewall or some other one?

Hello sledgehammer_999,
Yes, ADD an EXCEPTION to WINDOWS firewall when enabled. Else, the UPLOAD will never start. I can't say about the download, but the upload will not work for shure. By default, when installing Windows 2008 R2, the firewall is enabled. Same for

Re: Lack of firewall exception when installing
So the installer won't add qBittorrent to the list of exceptions on Windows Server 2008R2.
Sounds like a bug to me.

Hello shiki,
Well, I tried the installation twice and if by default qbittorrent is suppose to add and EXCEPTION in the FIREWALL, it didn't.
Thanx. regards.

Re: Lack of firewall exception when installing
version 3.06 and 3.1.x.Alfa does make the firewall exceptions, but...
The "Edge Transversal" function is broke in some way.
Default behaviour for Windows is to make the function "Defer to application", but this setting doesn't work with qBittorrent.
If I change the setting "Allow edge transversal" everything is fine.
I cannot recall that being necessary on earlier versions, but I am not completely sure.

Okay guys I'm a bit lost. I never used Windows firewall, I always found it useless. (The "Advanced" one is not that bad, but the configuration is a pain in the ass.)
So basically there IS a bug. Go ahead and report it on Github and someone will fix it from the team.

Re: Lack of firewall exception when installing
Since I am the creator and maintainer of the installer script I can tell that it doesn't add a firewall exception. I didn't even thought about it until now. Also, as far as I know, qbt itself doesn't do anythin special with the Windows' firewall.

Hello sledgehammer_999,
This is why 2 heads are better than one.

Re: Lack of firewall exception when installing
Does this, however, only apply to the "default" port? How does one then expect to change the port after it's installed, it will no longer apply to the port set in the firewall?
Sorry, I don't use Windows firewall either. I use the firewall on my router.
