qBittorrent and (very) large .ISO files

Post by jeps »

Has anybody experienced problems downloading large .ISO files (>40 GB)?

I have had several severe crashes on my Windows 2008 R2, 64 bit server.
Crashes so severe that I had to restart the server.
Before I started downloading these .ISO's qBittorrent had been running successfully in several days.
The files/Torrent is made of 16 MB blocks.

The disk system is a RAID-5 with write speeds > 100 MB/sec.
My Internet bandwidth is in qBittorrent limited to 8 MB/sec. down and 7 MB/sec. up.
I believe the crashes happens when the bandwidth is heavily used.

Ooops, I have actually tried several versions:
3.1.3 [Qt 4.8.5; libtorrent 0.16.12; OpenSSL 1.0.1e; Boost 1.55]
3.1.4 [Qt 4.8.5; libtorrent 0.16.13; OpenSSL 1.0.1e; Boost 1.55]
3.2.0alpha-release-3.0.0-751-g1648cdc [Qt 4.8.5; libtorrent 0.16.13; OpenSSL 1.0.1e; Boost 1.55]
&
3.0.9 [Qt 4.8.4; libtorrent 0.16.9; OpenSSL 1.0.1e; Boost 1.53]

So basically most recent versions have been tried.

I have focused on disk-cache settings, but the RAM consumption never really gets that high.
When qBittorrent (& server) is restarted, it halts on every new check of the file stating that data is corrupt or not accessible.
It is simply impossible to continue downloading and I have to delete the files and start from scratch, which get rather annoying the 3. time...

PS.
I have tried the same Torrent using Tixati version 1.96 and everything works as expected.
The files get downloaded without any problems.
But I would prefer using qBittorrent  ;)

No problems with a 41 GB iso file here.

qBt 3.1.4 official build on a Win 7 SP1 x86 machine. 100/10 FTTH connection.

Well, the solution/work around for me, was to download the big ISO's to at shared Map on a NAS.
There was simply no way, I could succeed the "normal" way.
This is kinda strange, since Tixati had no problem, so I assume it is not a OS or hardware related issue.

The disk I was trying to use, was a 10 TB RAID 5 storage
Layout: "Simple"
Type: "Basic"
File system: "NTFS"

The piece size of the torrent was 16 MB, meaning 2600 pieces per file.
