Associate torrents and magnet links under admin mode

Post by GannTrader »

Hi

When running qbittorrent under admin mode it seams like association with torrents and magnet links dont work.
When i click torrents or magnet links nothing happends.
Is this a bug i should report or is there a setting that can fix this?
Maybe i also should say that when running in non admin mode the association works as they should.
Yes i need to run qbittorrent in admin mode.

Okay,

"admin mode" means what exactly?

When i click torrents or magnet links nothing happends.
Define "nothing happens" or do you mean literally nothing?

eg: No dialogues, no errors, no highlighting, ...

With " admin mode" i mean "Run as administrator"
When you run qbittorrent as normal and click a link qbittorrent starts to download the torrent.
When running qbittorrent as administrator the download dont start, nothing happends.

"Run as administrator" does not load a "user profile" from the registry hives, so only the default "Root Classes" may loaded, so some applications that normally run in the context of a specific user may not have all of the registry settings. You may have to log in as "The Administrator" to propagate the HKLM keys to all hives.

If i understand this right this is becourse of windows and can not be changed/fixed in qbittorrent.

You will have to set them 'manually' in your browser associations and Windows file associations.

Magnet links depends on what browser you use.

Google search "set applications" + [browser name]

Ok that didnt help either.
If you have any more suggestions id like you to try them out yourself instead of using me as a guinea pig.
Since you obvioulsy dond know if they gonna work or not.

Oh I do, having done the process several times myself, on various operating systems, many different browsers and bittorrent clients.

So, have fun using Google to find out how seeing you appear to be not prepared to help your self.

Ohh we cant take criticism.
You say you have done this many times before.
Why cant you tell me what to do then?

Heres a recap and some new info.
I have done what you have told me before on both accounts, Adminitrator and my normal account.
Logged in on my normal account i rightclick the shortcut to qbittorrent and choose "Run as administrator".
I then go to a torrentpage using Firefox and click a torrent or magnetlink.
If not running as administrator the torrent now starts downloading.
But when running qbittorrent as administrator the torrent doesnt start downloading, nothing happends.
I think it has something to to with the association but im not sure.

Is this possible to fix or not or is it a bug?
