Cannot download metadata from magnet links
Cannot download metadata from magnet links
Windows 7 64 Bit
like title says qbittorrent will not download metadata for a torrent when i add it through a magnet link, so effectively i cannot download any torrents
this problem has only started recently, it was working fine beforehand
also, none of the trackers seem to be working
i've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail
attached is a screenshot of the problem with the non-working trackers included

Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
No peers = no metadata
If there are no peers at one torrent, there is no information to transfer.
This applies in real life too: You cannot learn things without someone knowing about those things.

Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
i can assure you that the torrent i downloaded had seeders on it.

According to what or whom?
Because if your client cannot to connect to any peers ... there are none available.
However the trackers showing "Not Working" over UDP suggests one or more of the following:
You have "Listen on IPv6" selected.
The listen port is only forwarded for TCP at your router.
UDP is blocked through any firewall you have in place.
Always announce to all trackers is not selected.

According to the site I downloaded the torrent from. While you may contend that their numbers may not be accurate, I have never had a problem with that before until now and only specifically with qbittorrent.
I did check on all those settings you mentioned, though, and found them to be in order, so the problem must be something else.

Meaning what exactly? I cannot see your setting so do not know what you mean by "in order", I could of course guess that they are all the opposite of what I postulated but cannot be positive. So, please clarify.and found them to be in order,
Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
And of course the issue may be:
1) There are no available slots in the swarm for metadata upload, and you will have to be a little more patient.
2) The task is subject to your client queue settings.
For 2)
a: delete the task from your client then reload from source and wait at the "Add new torrent" dialogue for the metadata to load.
b: "Force Resume" the task until the metadata has loaded.

You guessed correctly, they're all the opposite of what you said could be causing the problem. Listen on IPv6 is not selected, always announce to all trackers is selected, my firewall is not blocking UDP, and there are no issues with port forwarding.ciaobaby wrote: The first suggestion does not work at all, but the second will sometimes work for torrents with a large amount of seeders. Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
That sort of suggests a settings problem, possibly queuing as that is one thing that a "force start" bypasses.but the second will sometimes work for torrents with a large amount of seeders. Does that help anything?

Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
You don't have any DHT peers. That shows connectivity problems. What does your log say? (remove torrent names/hashes)
Re: Cannot download metadata from magnet links
Same issues here. Only on magnet links after doing a fresh install. When I upgraded nothing would connect, even existing torrents. I had to blank it and start fresh. Now regular torrent files download but magnets are never able to retrieve metadata.
