global maximum number of connections limited at 2000

Maybe you should allow users to set it above 2000. To me it'd certainly be useful.

Maybe if you happen to have faster than 1 gbit/sec symmetric it might be barely useful, otherwise...not really.

Nah, even 1gbps connection does not need this many connections.
Why do you need so many, zavalita?

Well, I do have a 500 mbs conection but the main reason is my 400 active torents list and growing. I'm currently limiting connections per torrent at 4... add DHT, PeX and UDP tracskers overhead to it and you'll get the picture.

This is really needed for anyone that has lots of seeding torrents running at once:
https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/2193

Then you could have a handful of downloading torrents that allow 50-100 connections each while seeding torrents could be restricted to 10 or less.
There does not need to be enough global max connections for every torrent to reach its max connections per torrent, especially if fewer than 1/10th of the started torrents are likely to have any connections at all!
