Avast blocked a connection to a URL

Post by black bart »

It happened after adding a torrent file. The url is:

Code: Select all

http://sso.anbtr.com/domain/glotorrents.pw
I've read that this domain is related to malware.
The torrent file only contains a MKV file.

Why did it happen? Is it normal? Or is the torrent file malicious?

And you're wondering why Avast blocked it???
If being protected concerns you, disable Avast ::)

My question is: how can a torrent connect to a website if the file hasn't been downloaded yet?

Also, the torrent file is found on a safe website and it never happened to me before.

Could it be related to some tracker?

Edit: I had 3.3.16, I updated to latest version and it doesn't happen anymore. Maybe a bug?

A torrent can connect to an ip address (or ip address  range) supposedly used by a website when it either updates a tracker URL pointing to that ip address range or a seed/peer in that ip address range.

Where you got the .torrent file from has no bearing on what ip addresses qBitTorrent gets on tracker updates of that torrent for seeds/peers running the same torrent.

Seeds/peers on public torrents can also supply additional ips of other seeds/peers via DHT, LSD, and PEX.
