Will any work be done on improving qBittorrent's UI?
Re: Will any work be done on improving qBittorrent's UI?
Don't know. What colour is it suppose to have? I always found that QT is a lot better than e.g. gtk in following theme settings.

This is how qb looks on my setup. It follows native classic with modified theme perfectly. Which I like very much.
Sorry but your theme makes my eyes hurt.

As shown on the screenshot, there's no highlighting on the text on the left panel at all.

Agreed. Too bright for me too. I am too old for the style I guess.

That bright green isn't for everyone, no : ) . Main point remains though, that qb follows native theme very well. Just some inconsistent icons that could look better.

I would argue that all of the icons need to be replaced. The blue folders for the labels and content tab look like they come from OSX, the torrent classifier icons look like they come from...well...nowhere...those look like they don't belong on any software, the taskbar buttons look they are from an old media player nobody uses anymore while the "-" and "+" are just painted on with MS paint, the status bar icons at the bottom are ok but they seem too modern compared to the rest of the icons.
Overall, the icons on qBittorrent just look like they are tacked on from different pieces of software dating from 1995 to 2005. There should be a set of icons that somebody can come up for the strict purpose of being on a torrent client that all have a relatively modern, unified feel to them.
Personally, I think the best example of how qBittorrent should look is how uTorrent looked back in the 1.x days. It was simple, uncluttered, didn't overuse icons, stuck to classic, practical, clear forms of iconography that you'd see in browsers like Firefox, didn't go with extreme outlandish colors like purple, or mismatch colors like purple/yellow or red/grey and everything felt "together" as you can see in this screenshot.
Also, the changing of text color according to your torrent status doesn't make sense to me. Red = Pause = Stop but Yellow = Seeding? "Seeding" should be Blue or something neutral. Yellow doesn't say to me that a transfer should be happening.

I wouldn't remember. I haven't used uTorrent since 3.0 came out. I've been using different open source clients since then and I've currently settled with qBittorrent.

I am asking since the screenshot is showing almost twice as much as I see in qbt... and I thought they're suppose to use the same dht network... I wish I see more nodes with qbt.

I also like the old style of uTorrent especially till 1.8.5 just as your screenshot. About the DHT; qBittorrent never goes above 200 nodes, atleast thats what I see. It stays around 185-190 between this numbers. My question would be; Is higher nodes better? I didn't experienced any difference with uTorrent compared to qBittorrent I might add.

I think more nodes could lead to more sources if the seeders use dht and are using tracker that I can't connect to somehow. Since this is a UI thread, let's leave it for now.

I love it. It's really what qBittorrent needs to appeal to people who are leaving uTorrent, and there's a lot of those people lately.

I did some changes just for fun, look at them here: https://github.com/alfrix/qBittorrent/commits/new_style
but i think i don't really like the orange upload, i was going to make it green but wanted to maintain some of the colors of qbt.
but thinking about that, red for paused torrents and orange for seeding ones? i think both need to be grey.... and just black for downloading/queued.

Mind compiling and posting a screenshot? It would be great if this thread became a place where people give a shot at improving the UI, posting a screenshot and having the readership decide what works and what doesn't.
