Do I actually have to use a torrent settings calculator (qbittorrent)?

I've heard of this calculator: http://infinite-source.de/az/az-calc.html but I've also heard that its super old and out of date and not necessary. Is there anything I should actually change? I did read on here to cap my upload speed at 80% ? and my download speed at 95% ? but only saw that suggestions when searching for the calculator.
