Temporary problem??? Torrent download refuses to work

Post by n3mmr »

I'm in Sweden, I use Windows 10 1909 and several bittorrent clients.
I use the Mullvad VPN to hide.
Usually I can download torrents with reasonable speed.

However, some days, like today, none of the torrent magnet downloads I start even get beyond the metadata download stage.

This is not specific to qbittorrent, ALL bittorrent clients refuse to work.

So far, torrent services have resumed after anything from several hours to a few days.

I have tried qbittorrent, uTorrent, uTorrent Web and Transmission in various forms.

Is there some global attack on all torrent use that sometimes kicks in? Is it something in my local W10 PC??

Please suggest some way to investigate!

P.S. I've tried some legal torrents w/o Mullvad VPN, but that doesn't work either.

Hi!

I had the same issue. I solved it like this...

Mullvad updated to allow for WireGuard. So in order to account for that i did the following:
  • Configure the Mullvad App to only use WireGuard.
  • Network Adapter is now wg-mullvad, so open qBittorrent > Tools > Options > Advanced and set Network Adapter to wg-mullvad.
  • Add a port to your WireGuard keys (you can do this by clicking Manage Keys in the Mullvad App).
  • Set the Port for incoming connections in qBittorrent to this port.
  • Change the SOCKS5 Host in qBittorrent to 10.64.0.1 (for WireGuard).
  • Restart the client and reconnect Mullvad.
Hope it works! For the other clients, I sadly cannot help.
