VPN VERIFICATION

I just downloaded qBITTORRENT and it looks easy enough to use.I have Express VPN and have had it for awhile now.Until now I had been using Bitlord but recently for whatever reason when I would go to download a torrent ,it would not acknowledge my VPN Address,it would just say Null,Null. I checked my vpn,ran tests and everything came back good and I know it is working.So ,as I said I downloaded qBITTORRENT but I cannot find where it acknowledges my VPN. I of course wont download things without knowing Im protected.Can anyone help me where to look or what to look for to make sure I am protected? Thanks,Bob
