Avast blocks potential botnet

Post by terrificFrogg »

Hi all. This is my first post. This just happened minute ago. Avast blocked my qbittorrent because it was infected with a botnet.
I thought I should report for awareness.

I wasn't doing any downloads. I don't remember if I had qbittorrent running in the background or not.

EDIT:
Here's the link to the Avast report: https://imgur.com/a/mg1GwrU
I tried linking it here but it just shows Image

This is no different than if in your web browser was viewing a spam email which included a picture (or worse) loaded from a "hostile" website.
...And Avast then decided to block/close/delete your web browser.

Your post was unclear what happened...

Was qBitTorrent?:

1. temporarily blocked...from receiving incoming or making outgoing connections.

2. Closed ...but you can re-start it again as though nothing happened.

3. DELETED by Avast...and you need to reinstall it.

( #3 obviously being the most severe)
