High peer count when there are no leechers available.

Some torrents I have uploading have zero leechers found on all trackers, DHT, PeX and LSD. Meanwhile the peer count on the torrent list is 0(2761)
This has been the case ever since I began using qBT since last year and even persisted when changing from windows 7 to linux Manjaro.
Does anyone know what causes it and if there's a way of disabling this weird behavior?
Edit: As soon as 1 leecher became available the peer count became 0(1).
