Unknown error 18446744073709551615

Post by Fishbowler »

Ubuntu has been upgraded to Maverick, and qBittorrent has been upgraded to 2.4.5.
New torrents that are added will operate for anything from a few seconds (most often) to a few minutes (it varies on restarts) to 100% completion (rare) without error, then a bubble notification is given that an I/O error has occurred, and citing "unknown error 18446744073709551615".
This usually sets the torrent to a stalled state (but not always).

Google hasn't been a great help. The only thing I found relevant was here: http://code.google.com/p/libtorrent/issues/detail?id=43

My options are configured to pre-allocate files, use a 16MB disk cache, and to use a "Partials" directory until completion.
The number of active torrents doesn't appear to have an effect on this issue - it happens with 1.
With the exception of the browser, there are no other applications open (except the various daemons).
I've been through the various areas within Ubuntu's Log File Viewer and can't see any mention there of any disk or I/O issues.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Please run qbittorrent from a terminal and provide the output.

Exactly the same thing, and no further info, I'm afraid.

Here's an example from a just-added torrent:

File Error: Newsnight file (/media/DATA3/Downloads/Partial/Newsnight/Newsnight Tuesday, 12th October 2010.nfo) error: Unknown error 18446744073709551615

That's all that's logged after the HTTP User Agent. And it's not logged just once.
It's there 15 or 16 times.

Also, perhaps interestingly, this is a tiny file that forms part of a multi-file torrent.
The accompanying .avi video file isn't mentioned...

Sorry, my bad, I thought the program was crashing.

It is very odd that you get this "Unknown error 18446744073709551615", when I google this, all I get is iptables-related error. Do you have iptables enabled by any chance?

I tried to reproduce your issue here with the exact same packages/distribution but I couldn't.

Oh, I have just seen the libtorrent bug report you mentioned. This would actually be it, I have pinged the author about it, we'll see what he has to say about it.

If possible, please subscribe to this libtorrent bug report. If he fixes this, I will upload libtorrent-rasterbar on my PPA.

Same here, I found that if I un-check the pre-allocate disk space for all files, than it works.

Let me know if I can help this thread anyhow.
