Does your remote app work if I am using a VPN on both my phone and home computer?  I have tried configuring the WebUI settings.  Not sure what the IP address should be, especially since it may change if I am using a VPN.  Is the only option to use a dynamic domain?  Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi theodorius,

I used it on VPN, so it should work in your case. In Settings, you have to fill the Hostname/IP address field with your qBittorrent server's IP address. To check you are reaching your server from the phone, first connect to the Web UI, which should be something like:

http://192.168.1.100:8080

Where 192.168.1.100 is the qBittorrent server's IP address...change 192.168.1.100 with your server's IP address.

If your server's IP address is changing dynamically, then the only way it's a domain...but I think it should be the case, because commonly on a VPN all IP addresses are in the same segment and the dhcp should keep your server IP assignation (lease), therefore, your server should have the same IP address.

I hope all this information helps you!

Best regards,
theodorius

Hmm.  No luck.  I'm wondering if there's a port forwarding configuration problem.  My VPN service,  PIA, has some port forwarding settings (remote port, local port,) and then there's the port settings in qbittorrent ( default is port 8080), and then the check box for the method of port forwarding which is confusing to me also.

Can you explain any of that?

Did you reach the Web UI from your phone? If you have another PC in your VPN, first try to reach your qBittorrent server from a browser to check the Web UI.

About the forwarding, in your VPN/router try to make a rule to your qBittorrent server's IP and port (which is 8080 by default).

Best regards!

I have searched for the problem and since I couldn't find any help on qBittorrent Client for Android I'm posting question here - I hope you don't mind.

I have installed qBittorrent Client on Android and cannot add any torrents to the qBittorrent running on desktop machine. I see all the torrents in qBittorrent Client app and I could also connect with WebUI, however when I click torrent file on Android, it starts qBittorrent Client app, reports that torrent is being sent, that it is refreshing and then nothing happens - torrent is not added to the qBittorrent.

Help?

@igallard FYI: qbt translation is done on transifex. Just a heads up if you want to use the same service. I think they support android translations too.

@loxl8 What qBittorrent (WebUI) version are you using? For Version 2.x.x, if the .torrent file is too big, qbt server ignores it.
