Downloads too big

I made a post last night, but it seems it never posted, so here I am again. Every time I load into qBittorrent a few of my torrents show up as "file missing" or something to the tune of that. The easiest way to fix this problem is to select those torrents, right click on them, and click resume. The problem I'm having is, every time I do this, it keeps raising the downloaded portion of the file to ridiculous amounts (screenshot provided below). It's eating up hard drive space on my computer too. So my question is, is there a way to clean/purge the chache or temprorary file system, something along those lines? I've tried doing a force recheck and that doesn't seem to help. I don't know what force reannounce does, so I haven't messed around with that much. I'm using qBittorrent 4.2.0beta1 on Mac OSX Catalina. I don't think this is a Catalina problem, because it's been going on since before I updated to Catalina, that's why I'm posting it in the Generic section. I have qBittorrent installed on my main hard drive in my applications folder and my torrents download onto an alternate 5 terabyte hard drive. My main hard drive is a 500 gig SSD. Thanks!
