Magnet links don't work

Torrent downloads using normal .torrent files work fine for me, but magnet links never seem to work. I just click on them, and the torrent appears on my qBittorrent, but it never starts downloading, or even shows me how many seeders and leechers there are. I have my qBittorrent set to use a proxy. Does anyone know what could be causing this?  Magnet links are working fine with Vuze, which also uses the proxy.
