File unrecoverable deleted?

Post by qiooti »

So i've deleted a torrent + content cause i had the same twice. 1 was finished, the other had only a few percent, so i dleted that. But now its all gone and i can't recover it. Why is that, or why isn't the file in the recycle bin?

libtorrent is not a 'file manager so:
Why is that?
: It only deals with "payloads" and "pieces" not 'files'.
why isn't the file in the recycle bin?
: it does not 'know' what the "Recycle Bin" is.

But it deleted the file, pieces or payload (whatever that means). Where is it, cause a 'file manager', can't find it.

qBittorrent isn't using the recycle bin for a ''second chance'' for you to recover your payload. However when you delete your torrent it asks you to delete;
- the torrent only
- or the torrent + payload (literally says Also delete files on hard disk).

If its checked it will remove it completely. Don't check it the next time if you want to keep your data, or delete the incomplete payload manually by going to the folder where its stored to be safe.

Github report:
https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/2475.

Noooooooaaaaah ah ah aooo

But it was just 300mb and i've d/l it again, so no biggy.

@nemo, ye, credited to my poor knowledge, i didnt think i couldn't use something like recuva to get it back. However, I did very much intend to delete the file. I just wasn't aware that those two torrents used the same file/name. Lesson learned.

Cheers

PS. thx for the links
