In automatic mode aspects of a torrent will be decided based on attached category. For the time being this is limited to the save path. In the future each category could have its own speed limits for example.
Unless I am mistaken, in auto mode save paths are "default_save_path/category_name/subcategory/subcategory"
So depending on what you choose in the options window:
1. When you switch categories to a torrent it will move to the save path of the new category.
2. If you change the default save path, auto torrents are moved to the new one
3. If you change the category name, auto torrents are moved to the path created by the new name.

I haven't used this much and its been a while since I merged the code. So some info might not be entirely accurate.

Now you can have categories and subcategories. Just create a category name "Game/Free" and also enable that option in "Downloads" section.

I'm doing some testing here with manually managed categories/subcategories, just to learn the concept.
ATM I want to organize all files on my HDD's under E/films/polish or F/music/rock and so on.
Loved those subcategories.

Music/Rock

Music is the category and Rock is the subcategory IIRC, i havent actually really had time to play with this feature.

How does it work? i can't make more than normal Categories (or old labels)

Let's say my defaul path is D:\AAA and i have the cateogory "Movies"
if i choose automatic system and i choose "movies" category the save path would be D:\AAA\Movies

I thought "subcategories" could add another subfolder like D:\AAA\Movies\Horror and Horror category shown in the client as subfolder (subcategory) oh Horror Category/Label

ATM I'm just setting categories manually to existing torrents according to their location and type.
Then I'll be gradually changing/creating locations, by selecting all torrents within its "tree".

For instance, as I don't have any really large HDD's and I have all kinds of files in all of them, I have set all torrents that were on drive G under the same messed g:\torrents folder to a temporary category named unclassified-g.
After that it becomes easier to sort the messed files on that drive (by size, by tracker), so I select the torrents under category unclassified-g and set them to, say, g/books or g/audiobooks or g/movies/documentary.

Interestingly, I didn't have to create "g", then "movies", then "documentary". I just had to create the nested category g/movies/documentary. This way I can have unclassified movies under the main category g/movies. So for the last part of this testing i'm doing, I select the subcategories and move manually the torrents from messed folder to nested location (which I have to create if non-existing). Then the torrents lose the label unclassified.g and will be gradually organized into its nested folders.

I didn't think much about how this should work automatically, as I think I will first have to establish standard nested locations in each HDD.

How did you create that subcategory and how is it in the client? can you make a screen?

Ok i found it,it's useful but it's not nice to see so many folders in Categories. It would be nice to have a tree that shows bettere which is the main folder and which are the subfolders (that should be named only with subfolder's name and not entire path)

Something like this

it looks like this so far:

Notice that the first label I created was g/films/documentary (g and g/films were then automatically created).
So if you create a label named h/films/italian/70's, then the labels h, h/films, and h/films/italian will be displayed.

yes,and it's not very good looking, don't you agree?

also, one should pay attention that if one removes the top category h/films, h/films/italian/70's will be gone.
well i think aesthetics-wise it might be a matter of adaptation

of course this manual classification woudn't be possible without sorting all torrents on column "Save path", if this info helps anyone

what do you mean "manual classification"
i just showed you how i would like subcategories to be

Sorting is bad becaue of other issues:sorting by path doesn't keep sort alphabetically when the path is the same, this means that i can have this

I just want that subcategories could have a better look in the client and have the chance to select 2 (or more) of them like i aksed here
http://f.qbittorrent.org//viewtopic.php?t=6 (here you can find also issues about sorting)

look, i'm far from being the best person to keep things tidily organized and good-looking, I'm just talking "manual classification" because I want the developers to see how users can take advantage of the new subcategories, even when they don't want - at least for now, and I mean for my use - to take full advantage of the automatic Torrent Managent Mode.

In order to use the automatic TMM I think I would have to mirror the names of my folders to the names of the categories, and that I don't intend to do atm. For instance, I use special characters like # in the name of some of my folders (first character), to get them displayed on top of other directories, and that I wouldn't want mirrored on the categories list...

It's maybe too soon for me to tell anything about the look as I'm still figuring out how to use them. As for having 2 or more categories selected, I see it as tagging and that would probably be another feature request. By the way, I like this tagging idea.
