Where is qBittorrent?

Post by particlefeever »

Hi. I just installed qBittorrent (thought) in my Debian 10 trough Snapcraft. But can't find it in apps list and don't know how to call it in Terminal. Didn't find documentation, only a howto faq wiki... what is missing?

Snaps are dreadful for desktop apps.
- you have to open them in a very weird way
- they can't access your filesystem in the normal way

I'd HIGHLY recommend just installing it normally.

Well now it's running just fine, downloading files and stuff!
But I kinda had to guess the right command line to install it: sudo apt install qbittorrent. There is no instructions for noobies.
I recommend step by step instructions for dummies, as I saw around the web, there is no reason this app don't grow up in the community but difficulties for users.

Yeah, exactly, now you installed it normally.
The "Snapcraft" website is for the snap version. It just doesn't make sense to use that for desktop applications, such as qBittorrent.

By the way if you want to use fresh desktop applications, you could use "Debian Testing".
On Ubuntu, you can use the PPA to have a fresh qBittorrent (recommended).
