sharing peer info (ip & port)

Post by Beresina »

Is it possible to see what peer information some other user has to enter to connect to my client?

There's the option "Add a new peer...". The format is

Code: Select all

IPv4:port
or

Code: Select all

[IPV6]:port
(one per line).

But how would I know what they have to use to add me as a peer?

I'm using a proxy (SOCKS5) and I could figure out the IP if I really wanted to. I managed to see the IP using some torrent testing tool. But what is the port? Is there a port used by the proxy? Would that even work to connect to my machine? Is there an other way for the two peers to find each other? Shouldn't DHT do that? Right now it doesn't work. It's uploading to some other peers, so seeding works on my side. And downloading generally works on the other machine. But somehow the other client doesn't connect with mine to leech this torrent.

If you use a SOCKS proxy, they can't connect to you anyway.
VPN - unless it has a port forward feature - same thing.

If you have a proper connection (or VPN with port forward), you just give them the IP + port you use in qBittorrent. And that's it.
