Pre-allocate disk space on mapped network drive.

Post by fredjones »

Hi All, I have clicked the pre-allocate disk space to prevent a full disk while using qBittorent. If the drive is a mapped network drive qBittorent seems to be allocating the space by actually writing data as the network usage by qBittorent goes to almost the full 1 Gbps. Is this normal? I thought that there is command to create a file of size x bytes rather than writing x bytes of 0's. In this case x is quite large and qBittorent basically hogs the network while the pre-allocation file is being created. Is there a way to do this more efficiently?
Thanks.
