Long files names problem

Post by Nick222 »

Hello!

There is a distribution containing two files with a very long name.
The difference between the names is only in the number at the end of the file name. The file sizes are different. The filename extensions are the same.

qBittorrent shortens the names of both files to the same string - after which it cannot download them - it gives an error when downloading (File error alert. error: End of file).

Bug ?

Xubuntu 21.10
qBittorrent 4.4.2

Is this a private torrent?
It'd be great if devs could test this, if this is actually an issue.

Filename max length depends on the filesystem. On Linux you may encounter ext4 (most common), btrfs (openSUSE most likely), ZFS (newer Ubuntu offers it), XFS/JFS (most rare probably). Each has different allowed lengths and I am not sure but maybe the desktop tools, such as the XFCE4 file manager (thunar) and Qt itself also has some kind of limitation.

These are clearly limitations ext4.

Torrent very big.
It's better to do a small test distribution with long filenames that differ at the end.
