As far as I can tell, 0.16.9 doesn't have the capabilities of aio or at least it has very few similarities. AIO stands for asynchronous I/O and it still is considered experimental.

Good to hear.
Those shutdown hangs can be a real PITA!
I've been experiencing them a lot with Opera..
so much in fact, that I've made a special shortcut in the taskbar to kill the SOB quick and painless through M$ taskkill.exe.

Do you have time to rebuild the alpha with libtorrent 0.16.9 ?
or the RC_0_16 svn branch at that time already includes all the bugs fixes?
Thanks

Well, I think you are ok if you use my last alpha. After that in git master only a linux specific change exists and some language updates. From libtorrent, there are only 2-3 minor extra fixes.

Re: [unofficial]qBittorrent git master builds: 3.1.0alpha10032013
sledge,
Is it possible to get an official "beta" build for qBT 3.1.0? Due to the issues in 3.0.9 I'm trying to get 3.1.0 whitelisted on a private tracker but they have a policy against allowing alpha builds due to risk of negative effects on swarm health from untested code.
What, if anything, is keeping 3.1.0 at the alpha level right now?

Re: [unofficial]qBittorrent git master builds: 3.1.0alpha10032013
It is just a convention. Everything in git master is considered unstable. Currently 3.1.0 is labeled 'alpha' by Chris Dumez (the author of qbt). I don't control this. In my opinion, 3.1.0 is very stable. Nevertheless I am not going to do a new build and just label it "beta". However, I will suggest to Chris to make a beta/RC release of 3.1.0.

Didn't mean to come off as "hey, can you do this" but rather as "hey, you'd know the answer to this" heh. Thanks for the info. I'll try to catch Chris on IRC as well.

libtorrent-rasterbar-0.16.10.tar.gz 2.8 MB
Description:
* fix encryption level handle invalid values
* add a number of missing functions to the python binding
* fix typo in Jamfile for building shared libraries
* prevent tracker exchange for magnet links before metadata is received
* fix crash in make_magnet_uri when generating links longer than 1024 characters
* fix hanging issue when closing files on windows (completing a download)
* fix piece picking edge case that could cause torrents to get stuck at hash failure
* try unencrypted connections first, and fall back to encryption if it fails (performance improvement)
* add missing functions to python binding (flush_cache(), remap_files() and orig_files())
* improve handling of filenames that are invalid on windows
* support 'implied_port' in DHT announce_peer
* don't use pool allocator for disk blocks (cache may now return pages to the kernel)

Ahh.. the "Code" button.
I couldn't see it for all the trees
