Torrent I Didn't Add Appeared Overnight

Post by GingerPenguin »

Hi all,

This is something weird I've never seen before. I've been rebuilding my home NAS (running TrueNAS) over the last couple of weeks and while I used to use Transmission, on this latest rebuild I moved over to qbittorrent as I much prefer it (both of which running in jails on the server). It's been a week and so it's been way better. However, I just noticed today that a new torrent was added at about 5:30AM today when I was asleep. I can't work out where it came from. The torrent in question has this title:

"IDA Pro v7.7.220118 SP1 + Hex-Rays Decompiler"

I've stopped the torrent and deleted the file from my system but it's got me kinda concerned. I'm not fully across what the programme in question does but it seems worryingly like a tool that could be used maliciously if run remotely on my system. Is this definitely from someone hacking into my network or could it be something that's happened internally?

Check Excecution Log, see what happened. You can also check when it got added exactly.
If you have WebUI port open, that's already a security risk there..
