4.6.1 Installer Does Nothing

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a bug or not, but I can't get the 4.6.1 installer to launch at all. I've checked the MD5, and it matches. I've redownloaded it multiple times, restarted PC, but no go. I'm able to launch the 4.6.0 installer just fine though.

I've had this problem with the last few updates. What works for me is to launch the installer from an Admin command line.

Now I can get 4.6.2 to launch either way. OOC, I tried 4.6.1 again, and I also can't run it normally or as an admin, but I can still run the 4.6.0 install just fine normally, no need to run it as an admin.

Did you ever touch UAC or anything? Also, which locale, English?
for me it worked just fine from 4.6.0 -> 4.6.1 -> 4.6.2.

I never made any changes to UAC, and I'm English, in the US.

Hmm thank you. This remains a mystery. I tested on 3 Win11 PCs and all of them starts both lt20 and regular 4.6.1 installers. It's Windows after all.

Is there some kind of logging Windows does that I could post that might help?

I mean, I am 100% for fixing bugs but 4.6.1 at this point is just.. obsolete. It was not like a major release or a final release before a major new version; but a small hotfix. So I would not worry too much about it if 4.6.2 works fine.

You could check Event Viewer. Press WIN+X and then Event Viewer.
In Application maybe.

But I also have a plan B:
Make a new .bat file with this content:

qbittorrent_4.6.1_lt20_qt6_x64_setup.exe 

echo %errorlevel%

And then run the .bat from CMD so you can see the error return code.

Well f**k me, it just worked. I tried multiple times before with multiple restarts, multiple redownloads of the program, even ran checksums to verify downloads, and it wouldn't do anything.

Maybe it's time for a wipe and reinstall of Windows, but damn is that a pita.
