[SOLVED] Impossible to install QB

Post by miczekif »

Hi,

When I launch the installer (even with Run as administrator), I get this message: "Unable to elevate, error".

How can I fix that?  ???

Thanks!  ;)

Have you 'unlocked' the installer exe file in the file properties?

Do you have UAC enabled? Does your account have admin rights?

https://github.com/qbittorrent/qBittorrent/issues/2524, seems like the same issue but this user got it working ''suddenly'' (explanation for others with similiar issue would be nice).

What Google comes with by searching this is that if you run it with admin rights that it should work. Or before you run it, right click on it and check "run as administrator" under the compatability tab. It has do to something with your elevated privileges/admin permissions in Windows.

Windows applies a 'lock' on some files that are downloaded from Internet locations that are not in your "trusted sites" list, even if you don't use Infernet Exploder to download them.

And even running with 'elevated' permissions will not allow them to execute.

I don't think the files are locked by anything. What should I do?

That's weird. My clean Windows 7 VM image works ok.
Can you try copying on your C: drive and executing it? (eg on your Desktop)

If the above doesn't work as a last resort do this: Temporarily disable UAC, run the installer and then re-enable UAC. qbt itself doesn't need admin rights anyway.
