intermittent black screens

Post by aassaf2 »

On a new laptop, new installation, I get infrequent 1 second long black screens whenever the application is running.

Please help.

qbittorrent does nothing that directly accesses the screen display and most certainly nothing that could affect the screen 'backlight'

And

OS??
Version??
QT version (Help -> About -> Libraries)
Screen saver settings?
"Power Plan" being used?
Are you doing anything else on the laptop when this occurs?

Thanks for the reply.

I also find it odd, yet I open and close qbittorrent to see and the connection is 100%.

I am in win 10 running the latest 3.3.3

Thanks!

Boost 1.60.0

Powerplan has teh screen turning off after 10 min of inactivity. Never going to sleep.

Many thanks

O man it's like pulling teeth.

Screen saver settings?
Are you doing anything else on the laptop when this occurs?

The  better the information you provide the quicker and more accurately this can be diagnosed.

Sorry.

I am not doing anything else when it happens. I may be browsing, but I saw it happen even in idle.

I have no screensaver.

Best

Do you have any messages related to this in "dmesg", or in your Xorg log?
Your screensaver daemon may also have some logs, do check your /var/log folder.

Okay, you are aware that the only thing that your computer operating system defines as "activity" is mouse being moved or a key on the keyboard being pressed, so if you are not actively using your mouse or keyboard the laptop may certainly 'blank' the screen.

Make sure that the machine BIOS is not set to use screen blanking in a "Power Management" section, and set ALL the 'Power plan' setting to 'Never,' then see if it happens.

Upgrading to 3.3.4 seems to have solved this. Many thanks for your help
