Not using anonymous mode would be like doing the same as you have done before there was an option for it.

I don't know enough about what anonymous mode actually does but I assume IP addresses are still visible on either end... if you're sharing files any possible way, your IP address is out there in one form or another (even if using proxy server).
You would likely see a big hit to your sources (seeders) and download speeds.
