Can qbittorrent write to disk like Utorrent

Post by winterli »

utorrent writes the downloaded files into the cache first, and then writes them to the disk once in a while. And qbittorrent seems to be writing to disk all the time.

Hi

This is the same behaviour here with a dedicated read/write cache provided by the libtorrent library. It's enable by default and in preference you have options to customize the size and behaviour (advanced settings, libtorrent section).

The next 4.4.x release will be game changer at this level as libtorrent 2.x will drop the app cache to the benefit of the OS cache completely.
At least it's the plan the last time I checked.

qBitTorrent v4.4.x will use libtorrent 2.0 and it's not working well so far:

https://github.com/arvidn/libtorrent/issues/6522
RC_2_0: Write cache doesn't flush to disk

Hi,The cache size and expiration time have been set in the advanced settings, and it is still being written to disk continuously.

Then wait for the official version of V4.4 and try again.

:) :) Then wait for the official version of V4.4 and try again.

As for the problem of large memory footprint, the 32-bit version should be able to solve the problem, and the memory occupied by 32-bit programs will not exceed 1.5g.
